Emergency Call points or Break Glass Units are used in the event of fire to activate the alarm and alert people to a potential fire. This little box is a must-have for public or communal areas It provides a central alarm trigger for any building occupants while preventing accidental triggers with a glass window. Break Glass Units are used on all fire systems and raise the alarm when someone forcibly breaks the white glass or plastic. The switch is triggered when the glass breaks, and an alarm is sent to the alarm panel. Usually, these units are installed in exits, corridors, landings, near high-risk areas (such as kitchens) and fire escapes. The glass is to protect from accidental triggering. These alarms do works with a pressure switch which is why glass is incorporated in the trigger. When the glass breaks, the alarm will go off.
